Dear Parents/Guardians,

Hillside Elementary is committed to providing the safest and best educational opportunity to our students. As a result, we will continue to implement these strategies as a school community to make this effective.

As a function of this, I will be spending two full days each week in classrooms to help improve the teaching and learning that happens on a daily basis. My goal is to continue “meet and greet” each morning, afternoon dismissal, and lunchroom monitoring, as time allows. I value these “unstructured” times with students and families.

The front office staff and I are not always able to speak with you when you drop in or telephone us. However, we really do value communication with you. If you need to speak with me, please contact Mrs. Aplin @ 541-830-6146 and she will arrange a time for us to visit either on phone or in person.

It is very busy in the front office and with 500+ students you can imagine how much there is to do with only two assigned staff. To help with this, please make sure to communicate with you child before they arrive to school how they will be going home. Also, to help with this, please keep your child in school until dismissal at 3:15 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and 1:55 PM on Wednesday.

If you are entering the building during school hours, you will need to be "buzzed in" at the front door.  One of the office staff will assist you and let you in.  Please come into the office and sign in with our laptop which will issue you a  "Visitor" sticker.  Remember to sign out when leaving the building.  Please don’t take offense if you are asked to sign-in. This is for everyone’s safety.
